Driven to Excel: How 17-Year-Old Ngong is Shaping His Future Against All Odds
Ngong Ding Ding, a model of academic excellence and commitment at Al-Nahda Academy.
True dedication knows no boundaries. Meet Ngong Ding Ding, a bright, academically gifted 17-year-old South Sudanese student currently completing his Primary 8 education. For anyone stepping into our learning spaces, Ngong stands out instantly—not just for his focus, but for his unyielding drive to consistently top his class and push the limits of his potential.
Ngong’s journey to this point has been marked by profound structural transitions. Having lost both of his parents at a tender age, he has grown up under the protective care of his elder sister. When severe conflict erupted in Sudan in 2023, their lives were uprooted, forcing a critical migration to Egypt. Amidst the chaos of displacement and a complete lack of external support structures, Ngong faced a painful reality: an entire year spent completely out of school.
Yet, family resilience cleared a path. In 2024, through extraordinary effort, his elder sister secured the resources necessary to re-enroll him in structural education. Recognizing his unique focus and bright intellect, Al-Nahda Innovative Academy stepped forward in 2025 to take full responsibility for his educational pathway, providing complete sponsorship that continues to this day.
"Ngong's commitment to learning is what makes him the model of our ideal student. He represents the exact standard of potential we are dedicated to discovering and preserving."
Since joining the Al-Nahda family, Ngong has completely maximized the programs offered to him. Through targeted English literacy courses alongside our specialized language instructor, Fernando, his command of the language has advanced dramatically. He also attends intensive one-on-one mathematics mentorship sessions with Fernando, balancing this practical instruction with digital self-paced learning via Khan Academy online paths.
Ensuring an elite student like Ngong stays in school requires an investment of approximately 12,000 Egyptian pounds per year in school fees—a baseline amount that stands between structural vulnerability and a life-changing career path.
Looking ahead to the 2026–2027 academic year, Al-Nahda is committed to identifying, adopting, and supporting more young people who share Ngong's remarkable academic drive. But we cannot scale this vital pipeline alone.
